Maverick GII

  • Improved annual yields
  • Improved summer quality (aftermath heading further reduced)
  • Improved disease resistance and persistence
  • Late heading date (17 days later than Nui)
  • Suited for high quality silage

Maverick GII is the next-generation diploid short rotation ryegrass. Maverick Gold redefined the diploid short rotation ryegrass market, with very high winter yields combined with excellent summer quality. Maverick GII builds on the success of Maverick Gold, with spring and summer yield gains, and further improvements in summer pasture quality, disease resistance and persistence.

Maverick GII produces winter yields up to 50% greater than many perennial ryegrasses, and almost as much as top producing Italian ryegrass cultivars. Maverick GII contains both Italian and perennial ryegrass genetics, and can persist as well as some low endophyte perennial ryegrasses.

Dry Matter Production

Maverick GII establishes well and has excellent spring and summer dry matter production for a short rotation/Italian ryegrass

Sowing and Establishment

Maverick GII can be sown at 20-25kg/ha as a pure sward with clover, or added to a permanent pasture mix at 4-7kg/ ha. In an undersowing situation, sow SUPERSTRIKE® treated seed at 10-15kg/ha.

Grazing Management

Maverick GII is best suited to rotational grazing. For best persistence, avoid hard grazing over summer.
