Expo AR1 - "I'd certainly use it again"

"Expo AR1 is always the first paddock we go back to. Once you've grazed it, its strong, vigorous growth means it is always well ahead of other paddocks,"

says Barry Stephenson, who farms in partnership with his father Don. Expo perennial ryegrass was sown on a dairy unit milking 360 cows, with the Stephensons also farming neighbouring properties.

Sown in April, during a dry autumn, "Expo perennial ryegrasses growth took off once it got a bit of moisture and it performed well during a cold winter", says Barry. Expo perennial ryegrass with AR1 was sown with white clovers Kopu II and Bounty. "Through spring, its regrowth is very quick and it has a thick sward."

"When the cows come back down that side of the farm it's the first paddock we go back to as it has the most grass, and it recovers quickly too.

"I'd certainly use it again."
